After Hours Resources at Pediatrics West
If you are worried your child is sick and may need medical evaluation when the office is closed:
In case of an emergency, call 911.
Use the following resources to help determine if your child needs in person medical evaluation after hours either at an urgent care or emergency department.
- Use the free ChildrensMD mobile app.
- Most common head colds, vomiting/diarrhea illnesses, concerns for ear infection or strep throat, and fevers can be managed at home overnight and wait to be evaluated in our office the next day.
- This symptom checker and advice app often is the same information that nurses will use when giving verbal advice on the Children’s Hospital Nurse Triage phone line
- You will receive quicker advice than the afterhours Children’s Hospital Nurse Triage phone line(average wait time is 25 minutes)
- Use the free “Is Your Child Sick” tab on our website
If you need further support during afterhours then call our office at 720-284-3700. You will be transferred by the answering service to the Children’s Hospital Colorado Nurse Triage line. If deemed more complicated by the triage nurse you will be transferred to the after-hours doctor on call for telephone medical advice. The doctor on call is at home and not in the office. This may result in a bill to your medical insurance. Pediatrics West doctors share afterhours doctor on-call services with Denver West Pediatrics.
Monday-Friday 8:00AM-12PM and 1PM-4:30PM: Pediatrics West offers nurse advice and triage. Call 720-284-3700 to be connected. Phones are off 12-1 for lunch.
Most Saturdays 8:30-11:30: Pediatrics West offers walk in Urgent Care hours at the Wheat Ridge location. Not offered when we have a Flu vaccine clinic or in weeks of the following holidays: New Year’s, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (check website to ensure Saturday clinic is open)
We encourage you to leave NON-URGENT matters and medication refills to be addressed during our normal business hours Monday through Friday.
